Should You Connect Gemini to Your Google Business Profile?

You can connect Gemini to your Google Business Profile, and for reading your reviews and figures it's a reasonable thing to do. The catch is that the same connection can also change your hours, publish posts and delete replies, and it only works with a chat setting turned on that lets Google keep, and sometimes have people review, what you type. So connect it for the reading and the drafting, and keep the changes in your own hands.
This suits a sole trader or small team with one profile who already uses Gemini and keeps seeing the offer to connect. It doesn't suit anyone who looks after several profiles (Google doesn't allow it yet), or anyone who'd rather nothing about their business went into a chat history at all.
What happens when I connect Gemini to my Business Profile?
Gemini gets the same kind of access you have on the profile, from inside a chat. Google's help page, Manage your Business Profile on Google with the Gemini web app, lists what it can do once you're connected:
- Change your details. Business hours, contact information, action links, food menus, photos, attributes and location details.
- Read your reviews. See your ratings and reviews and sum up what customers keep saying.
- Handle replies and posts. Draft or delete review replies, and create, schedule, publish or delete update, offer and event posts.
- Show your figures. Performance numbers such as impressions, clicks, direction requests and bookings, plus the searches people found you with.
That page doesn't say whether Gemini stops to check with you before each change, so the safe habit is to assume it may not, and to word your requests as "draft" or "show me" rather than "update".
Who can connect it, and what do you need?
You need to be 18 or over, and an owner or manager of only one verified Business Profile. It only works in the Gemini web app at gemini.google.com, signed in with the personal Google Account that's linked to your profile, not a work or school account. And the Keep Activity setting has to be on: Google's page says plainly that Gemini can't connect to Business Profile when it's off.
To connect, ask Gemini something about your profile, or type @Google Business Profile in your message, and follow the steps it shows. If the option isn't there, Google's connected apps help says availability varies by location, language and device, so it may not have reached your account yet.
What's the catch with the Keep Activity setting?
Keep Activity is what lets Google save your Gemini chats, and saved chats can be read by people. The Gemini Apps Privacy Hub says "a subset of chats are reviewed by human reviewers", asks you not to enter confidential information you wouldn't want a reviewer to see, and says reviewed chats are kept for up to three years. The way it gives to stop future chats being reviewed is to turn Keep Activity off, which is the very setting the Business Profile connection needs on.
So the trade is plain. You get the convenience, and in return anything you type in those chats goes into a history that a person might read. For asking about your reviews, that's a small price. For pasting in a customer's complaint with their name, address and what went wrong at their house, it isn't. Keep customers' personal details out of the chat entirely.
Which jobs should I let Gemini do?
A simple rule covers most of it: let it read and draft, and do the changing yourself. Here's how that works out job by job.
| The job | Hand it over? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Reading your insights and reviews | Yes, a good first job | It only reads. Asking what customers keep mentioning, or how many people asked for directions last month, changes nothing on your profile. |
| Drafting a reply to a review | Yes, if you read it first | A draft costs nothing. Check every fact in it, because a reply sits under your business name long after the chat is forgotten. |
| Writing an offer or event post | Draft it, then check before it goes out | Google says it can create, schedule and publish posts. A wrong price or date in an offer is your mistake in public, not the tool's. |
| Changing opening hours or contact details | Do it yourself | These are the facts customers act on. One wrong phone number or closing time costs more than the minute it takes to change it by hand. |
| Deleting replies or posts | Do it yourself | Google lists deleting among the things it can do. Keep removals as a decision you make on purpose, on the profile itself. |
A dog groomer is a fair worked example. Asking Gemini which services reviews mention most, then asking it to draft a short thank-you to last week's reviewers, is quick and harmless. Telling it to "move my Saturday hours to 9 till 1" is a job where a misread message puts the wrong time in front of every customer who checks before they drive over. For the reply side of this, our guide to replying to Google reviews covers what a good reply says, whoever drafts it.
Should I connect my other business accounts as well?
Take each one on its own, and start with the one you'd mind least. In its announcement of 20 October 2026, Google said it is making it easy to connect Gemini to Business Profile, Google Ads and Google Workspace, and to apps including Adobe, Canva, Dropbox, Shopify, Wix, Zoho and Xero. That's Google's own description of its product, and it doesn't spell out what Gemini can see or do in each one.
Before connecting anything that touches money, such as an ads account, a shop or your accounts, find that service's own help page on connecting Gemini and look for three answers:
- Can it spend or change anything? Reading figures is one thing. Changing a budget, a price or an invoice is another.
- What does it keep? The Privacy Hub says connected apps hold on to data Gemini shares with them under their own policies, so the other company's terms matter too.
- How do you disconnect it? If you can't find the answer before you connect, don't connect.

How do I disconnect Gemini or remove its access?
You can turn the connection off at any time from Connected Apps in Gemini's settings, which Google's help page confirms. Google's connected apps help currently puts it under Customize, then Connectors, at gemini.google.com, with Disconnect in the options beside each app. Menus move, so if it isn't there, search Gemini's settings for Connected Apps.
Disconnecting stops future access. It doesn't undo what's already been done. A reply Gemini helped post or a change it made stays on your profile until you edit or delete it yourself, just as Google's page on owners and managers says a removed person's replies and posts stay on the profile after they've gone. While you're in there, open People and access in your Business Profile settings and check who else can manage it. Managers have almost the same access as owners, so an old web company still listed there is worth removing.

Frequently asked questions
Can I connect Gemini if I look after profiles for more than one business?
Not at the moment. Google's help page says the feature isn't available to owners or managers who have access to more than one verified Business Profile, so someone who manages a second shop or a relative's business is left out for now.
Does it work with my Google Workspace business email account?
Not for the Business Profile connection, according to Google's help page as we read it in October 2026. It asks you to sign in with a personal Google Account linked to the profile, and says the feature isn't yet available on a work or school account.
Will connecting Gemini help my business show up higher on Google?
Nothing in Google's help pages says so. The connection is a quicker way to do jobs you could already do on the profile itself. Whether you appear is down to the profile, and our guide to a Business Profile not showing up covers the usual reasons.
